Rotary cone
drill bits are the most widely used in oil drilling and geological exploration. As they rotate, they impact, crush, and shear the rock formation, making them suitable for use in soft, medium, and hard formations. The advent of jet cone drill bits and long nozzle cone drill bits has significantly increased drilling speeds, marking a major revolution in the development of rotary cone drill bits. Based on tooth type, rotary cone drill bits can be categorized as milled (steel) and insert (carbide-embedded) cones. Based on the number of cones, they can be divided into single, double, triple, and multi-cone drill bits.
1. Utilizing a floating bearing structure, the floating element is made of a new material characterized by high strength, high elasticity, high temperature resistance, and high wear resistance, and its surface is treated with a solid lubricant. This reduces the relative linear velocity of the bearing pair while minimizing temperature rise on the friction surface, effectively improving bearing life and reliability under high-pressure-on-bit (WOB) or high-speed drilling conditions.
2. High-precision metal seals are employed. These consist of a pair of meticulously designed and machined metal sealing rings as the bearing's axial dynamic seal. Two highly elastic rubber energy rings, located in the palm and cone sealing areas, serve as static seals. Optimized seal compression ensures consistent contact between the two metal ring sealing surfaces.
3. Steel balls lock the cones, accommodating high rotational speeds.
4. A full-rubber oil reservoir limits differential pressure and prevents drilling fluid from entering the lubrication system, ensuring excellent lubrication of the bearing system.
5. A new wear-resistant grease with a temperature resistance of 250°C is employed.
6. The insert drill bit utilizes high-strength and high-toughness carbide teeth. The optimized design of the number of rows, number of teeth, exposed tooth height, and unique alloy tooth profile fully utilizes the insert drill bit's high wear resistance and excellent cutting performance. The steel tooth drill bit's tooth surfaces are welded with a new wear-resistant material, extending the life of the cutting teeth while maintaining the steel tooth bit's high mechanical penetration rate.
